Working Together to Improve Route 5

Welcome to the Route 5 Corridor Study website! This site is dedicated to providing the area's citizens, business owners, civic leaders, and the general traveling public with information and regular updates about the Route 5 Corridor Study. The development of this important long-range, multimodal transportation plan will define the way Route 5 carries vehicles, transit, bicyclists and pedestrians in the City of Richmond and Henrico County for years to come.

This corridor study extends along Route 5 from 7th Street in downtown Richmond to S. Laburnum Avenue in eastern Henrico County. To view a larger map of the corridor study limits, please click here.

Over the coming months, significant content will be added to this site which will allow you to view detailed project and corridor mapping, summaries of analyses conducted, news about upcoming activities and public meetings, and other information relevant to this study. Please check back often! Click here to download and review existing conditions report information that was added on 01/6/11.

Public input will be a major factor in the success of this study, so please provide us with your feedback by attending one of the project workshops or meetings. You may also elect to receive periodic updates by signing up here to be on our study e-mail list.

Funding for this study is being provided by the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission (RRPDC). The study is being prepared by a consultant team with guidance from a Study Work Group consisting of representatives from the RRPDC, the City of Richmond, Henrico County, VDOT, GRTC Transit System, and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transit.
